Hi everyone, welcome to the first post of my blog, Boba Money! I am happy to see you here and hope my content will keep you around. To learn more about me, go to the About page.
In this blog, I am going to write about these things:
- Make “Boba Money” – what I use to earn extra cash, and why I do them. Occasionally this includes “deals” as well.
- Get Hired & Promoted – this is broken into 2 parts:
Career Development – I have worked in the tech industry since 2014 in various IT and software development roles. I worked my way up from having a non-traditional CS background (I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music), so people have asked me how I got to where I am. I am happy to share what I know about how to get started and climb the career ladder by standing out at work, and I think my insight should work for everyone, not just those in the tech industry. Spoiler alert: continuous learning is a key component to success.
Job Search, Resume, and Interviews – I will talk about my experience and thoughts from the perspective of someone who has participated in hundreds of interviews (mostly as a candidate, but I have been an interviewer too). I am not a recruiter so I can’t answer all the questions, but I have not failed an interview for the last 3 years, so I hope that’s good enough for you. - Achieve Goals – I will discuss how to identify what you want in life, set realistic goals based on those wants, and keep yourself accountable to achieve them.
- Enjoy Life – we can’t work all the time, sometimes we need to have fun too! Here are some topics that I will write about occasionally:
Health – I am currently 36 years old. Although I consider myself healthy, I am not a young man anymore so I am constantly looking for ways to stay young. I will cover topics like implementing anti-aging techniques, eating healthier, exercising, being outdoors for the fresh air, having a positive attitude, and more.
Parenting – I have a 6 month old son at home. Before he was born, I disliked babies and didn’t know anything about them, but after reading countless books and blogs, I became a very confident father who is constantly tweaking my parenting techniques to help my son become successful in the future. I will discuss different strategies and parenting styles, gadgets and toys, and my views on post-child relationships (parent-child, grandparent-parent, spouse-spouse).
Event/Venue Reviews – Mrs. Chuy is a big foodie, so we go to food-tasting events, festivals, and interesting restaurants all over Los Angeles. Granted we don’t go as often due to having a baby, but we still go occasionally. When we do, I will take some pictures and write about them!
My Favorite Things – I describe and review my favorite products (this type of post will probably contain affiliate links).
Ask Me Anything – people ask me (mostly career-related) questions all the time. I will answer the more interesting ones in this blog occasionally.
